Retired 2012

In June, 2012 I finally made the decision to hang up the spikes for good. It would have been a dream come true to compete at the London Olympic games, but unfortunately injury once again got the better of me. Looking back to the 21 years of competing for my country, I feel extremely blessed to have had such a long time doing a passion of mine. The nature of top end athletics is that I never feel satisfied which what I have achieved – but as I was once told by an Olympic champion – that is what has set my carear apart from other athletes – allowing me to constantly strive to perform at a higher and higher level.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to all my fans and supporters over the years, British athletics has become a very different scene to one that I originally joined as a youngster, and I hope the sport can continue to grow in the right direction, with the sport and competition at the heart of it all.

It’s an exciting year for me now, I’m getting married in September and I’m in talks with the GB Bob-sleigh team to potentially trial for a spot on board – I will of course keep you posted with all my news.

Thank you again – here’s to new adventures!

All my love
Ben
